Little Brother
(Lisa Biales)

I met a soldier on a plane. He was anxious to get home and tell his little brother not to follow him to war. They came from a military family. After he told me his story, he slept, I cried. He was beautiful and peaceful and barely needed a shave. My heart aches for his mother and his brother when I sing this song. Peace
I met a soldier only twenty-one
Same age as my own boy going home to see his mom
And to tell his little brother you won’t follow me this time
War is hell and I’ve seen people die
He’d be home for only 2 days it wouldn’t be enough
He’d have to savor every moment cause the time to leave is rough
But he’d tell his little brother I don’t want you over there
War is hell and everybody’s scared
I met a soldier he was every mother’s son
He had seen some warring I could tell it wasn’t fun
But he’d tell his little brother you won’t follow me this time
War is hell I don’t want to see you die
You know we’re all gonna die what are we fighting for
If we’re all gonna die why the stinking little war
You listen little brother this some kind of game
War is hell you’ll never be the same
I met a soldier only twenty-one
Same age as my own boy going home to see his mom
He would tell his little brother You won’t do what I’ve done
War is hell I won’t let you take the gun
War is hell it robs you of your fun
War is hell but I will finish what I’ve begun
